Larry Crowne review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 27 December 2011 02:50 (A review of Larry Crowne)

Old guy goes to community college (fine), falls in love with his teacher (fine), and joins a Vespa gang (wtf). It's pretty much never funny, and barely watchable. It's decently cute for a romantic comedy, and Tom Hanks is always likeable, but the movie never quite figures out what the tone of it's comedy should be. Cedric the Entertainer provides a totally different kind of comedy than the cutesy love story, which is totally different than the zany and random Vespa gang. It just doesn't work, the movie is a mess.

Moneyball review

Posted : 12 years, 4 months ago on 24 December 2011 06:12 (A review of Moneyball)

The first act of the movie was great, as Pitt's character meets Hill's and they start discussing using statistical analysis to build a winning team. After that the team is formed and they seem pretty bad, and the movie is in constant jeopardy of becoming Major League III. Luckily, this never really happens, and the movie remains strong for the duration.
